MUST LISTEN 098

Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like Lucky Daye, Nari, and Joe Saan.

New Orleans-native and R&B powerhouse Lucky Daye releases his highly-anticipated new album, Candydrip. The project is Daye’s redefinition of modern R&B through a futuristic, Sci-Fi world, shaped by the inspiration of Afrofuturism. The 17-track body of work is the taste of a new era for Daye, one that celebrates his rise to stardom, while still bringing listeners on a ride they’ve never experienced before.

Benin City musician Rema releases his new single “FYN” featuring Ladbroke Grove rapper, AJ Tracey. Just weeks away from his debut album, Rema connects with the UK heavyweight as the two artists - both at the top of their game - relish in their successes and celebrate the finer things in life. The world has eyes on Rema and he never disappoints, consistently confirming why he is one of the scenes leading voices.

Ayla D'Lyla

NYC-based recording artist Ayla D'Lyla has released a brand new single titled, "MONEY." An ethereal, slow-burn track that culminates into a cinematic scorcher. The song showcases Ayla D'Lyla's raw vocal prowess, alongside sweeping production and lyrical wit that set a high bar for what's to come for the budding artist.

Brooklyn-based artist Joe Saan returns with his intoxicating single, “SCIENCE.” The track takes a more experimental approach with a spellbinding groove paired with his sensual vocals, making this one of his most ambitious singles yet. This is a very exciting and refreshing move for Joe Saan.

Bay Area native Nari returns with her melancholy new single, “7UP.” This track gives us a glimpse of what’s to come from her upcoming debut album, Greener on the Other Side, due later this year. The song offers a candid glimpse into her tumultuous relationship with alcohol. On the surface, it appears to be a peppy bright tune with a gentle riff paired with Nari’s soft vocal delivery. However, beneath lies a darker truth behind the fun exterior.

Sydney-based artist Chanel Loren arrives in 2022 with her debut single and video, “Playlist.” A unique fusion of alternative-R&B, UK Garage, and indie influences, “Playlist” demands instant attention for its distinct multi-genre blends. Addressing a past "situationship", Chanel's vocals effortlessly glide over layered beats and melodies, encapsulating delicate and confident energy from start to finish.

Mack Keane, ESTA, & Destin Conrad

Rising R&B artist Mack Keane & Soulection mainstay, ESTA, return with an intoxicating new single “O.M.L” ft. melodic vocals from Destin Conrad. The track explores a gravitational romance where two love-struck people can’t keep away from each other. “O.M.L.,” short for “On My Line,” is an allusion to the push and pull of their dynamic. Through reverbed vocals, entrancing snare, and smooth additions from Destin Conrad, the Los Angeles-based duo show that, unlike the relationship they detail, their own partnership is built to last.

Alternative hip-hop/bedroom pop band Belaganas release their latest single “Nevermind It To Hell.” Earnest and racing, the track finds Belaganas fighting to ignore doubt and history and embracing the jump into the next step. The song is a shimmering vocoder sliding into a falsetto over the steady rumble of the bass, while lush synths and drums crack underneath.
