MUST LISTEN 109

Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like CICERO, Ravyn Lenae, and Ramriddlz.

Rising West London songstress CICERO drops her new single, “What Do I Do” produced by the legendary producer and pioneer, Roska. Fusing the best bits of UK Funk, Dancehall, and Alt-R&B, the track discusses the importance of being honest with someone who’s coming on too strong when the feelings are not reciprocated.

“like i love u” is the latest track from 21-year-old artist, honey. Paired with the songstress’ sultry vocals, the track is a 90s house-inspired track with modern R&B sensibilities that make it an essential must listen for this summer.

R&B singer-songwriter Yaz Aiyla releases her intimate new track, “Drifting.” Written from a place of anxiety, the track is driven by a chill funk-driven production that's paired with Yaz’s airy vocals, leaving you feeling like you’re floating on a cloud.

Asserting herself as a breakthrough artist this year, Jamaican-born singer and songwriter Jada Kingdom uncovers a slick, sizzling, and sultry new single and video entitled, “Last Night.” Her voice moves in waves with the track’s ebb and flow, dipping in and out of dancehall and R&B with a sly hint of pop. Jada brings the lyrics to life with a beachside party in the accompanying visualizer.

Celestial R&B artist UMI releases her studio debut album Forest in the City. Lead single “wish that i could” is an electro-pop driven record that is packed with breathy vocals and a catchy hook that displays UMI’s dynamic range. Every track on the album is infused with UMI’s love and spirit in order to inspire others.

Chicago-born and Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter Ravyn Lenae releases her highly anticipated debut album, HYPNOS. Her debut is a showcase of her ascendant vocal prowess as she moves effortlessly through multiple styles and genres.

Mississauga artist Ramriddlz returns with his latest project SD2 (Sweeter Dreams 2) which is the sequel to his 2017 album, Sweeter Dreams. The 17-track album produced with frequent collaborator Jaegan is the perfect continuation of Sweeter Dreams. Interpolating clever-wordplay and unique samples, it’s incredibly refreshing to see Ramriddlz return.

The fast-rising R&B/Hip-Hop group Your Grandparents return with their new single “Somebody Told Me” featuring fellow Los Angeles Neo-Soul/Hip-Hop musician, Amindi. The trio’s fresh summer track showcases Jean Carter and Dacosta’s signature smooth flow and sultry vocals with producer ghettoblasterman’s funky, hypnotic beat paired effortlessly alongside Amindi’s raw and entrancing vocals.
