MUST LISTEN 112

Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like Al Doms, Kevin Holliday, and Rodney Chrome.

Brooklyn-bred artist Kevin Holliday unveils his introspective single “Out of Me,” a testament to Holliday’s innovative spirit as he refuses to slot his music into genre-defining boxes. Holliday creates a soundscape that is uniquely his own, a future-retro, funky, and soulful sound. Holliday’s candid lyricism explores his personal experience being in a long-distance relationship during lockdown.

DIY Copenhagen-based pop artist Mercedess releases her dreamy and melancholy debut album, CASA FANTASIA. The lead single of the album, “Summer’s Already Gone,” is about falling in love, not with a person, but with the whole adventure of summer that always comes to a brutal end.

Tacoma, Washington recording artist Keys Open Doors releases his latest single, “Sip N Slide.” The track is a fusion of Hip-Hop, R&B, and Funk that showcases the rising star’s silky delivery and vibrant vocal presence. Over groovy, West Coast chords and a chill jazzy atmosphere, the track sees the artist exploring a casual relationship that is predicated on good energy and fun times.

Los Angeles-based vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Cassie Marin releases her latest single “Floating.” With her highly anticipated album on the horizon, this new single continues Cassie’s impressive streak of irresistible electro-pop anthems. Pairing sparse, bubbling synth-pop beats with Cassie’s signature saccharine vocals, “Floating” is a dreamy summer pop tune.

NYC-based recording artist Rodney Chrome releases two tracks “To The Money & “Famous” off of the first volume from his four-part EP series, GHETTO POP STAR, which will be dropping throughout the rest of the year. The slick and witty “To The Money” is released alongside a jaw-dropping visual that proves it’s Rodney’s world and we’re just living in it.

Flaurese breaks his two-year hiatus with his sultry new single “I Want You.” Drawing on his heritage, the London-based DJ and producer brings to the fore a range of influences that combine with a keen understanding of the here and now. This ethos allows him to make dance music with a fresh take, adding something to the club scene palette in the process.

Genre-defying Dominican-Irish artist jame minogue releases a shiny new music video to accompany his anti-love single, “You’re Thinking of Me”, the focus track for his recently released sophomore EP Príncipe Azul. The groovy, pop-funk offering presents a cocky, overcompensating perspective on love resulting from previous heartbreak.

Hip-Hop heavyweight Al Doms, teams up with industry veteran Pusha T on his latest track “HAHA.” Sliding over a sinister beat the two connect so effortlessly on this braggadocious record that their animated and energetic flows mesh together on this unexpected yet welcoming collab.
